Uzbekistan ready to replace imports of Turkish food to Russia
MOSCOW, Apr 26 (PRIME) -- Uzbekistan is ready to replace imports of Turkish fruit and vegetables to Russia in the long run, President Islam Karimov told reporters Tuesday following his meeting with President Vladimir Putin.
“Let’s speak straight: you see, Turkey is now unable to ensure supplies due to some reasons, and there is a serious reason to suspend supplies. Does Uzbekistan produce a lesser amount of fruit and vegetables,” he said.
“Today, Uzbekistan plans to increase production of fruit and vegetables to 4.5 million tonnes in 2016. This is serious figure. And we can not only provide Russia today with some types, it will be a long-term plan.”
